EuroBasket 2017

FIBA

The EuroBasket 2017 was hosted by Helsinki, Cluj-Napoca, Istanbul and Tel Aviv. At least you thought so. Europe’s biggest basketball tournament took place somewhere totally else – on planet basketball.

As the reveal of the visual identify has shown, we have taken basketball to new “galactic” dimensions. Partly because basketball is the best thing in the universe, partly because the whole tournament is as exciting as something from another planet.

We built the story of the logotype upon the EuroBasket trophy. In combination with a ball and Saturn-like rings it transforms into the home planet of basketball.  

The secondary visual elements represented typical colours and shapes found in natures DNA for each of the host countries. Travelling from north to south, colours shift from cold blue, over green to warm orange and red hues. A similar modification is taking place with shapes, where sharp “icy” structures slowly round up. Both elements become integrating parts of our planetary system.

After 2013 and 2015 the revealed visual identity as well as branding concept for EuroBasket 2017 marked the third consecutive tournament for Zadrga Communications Agency. We thank FIBA for trusting in our work and hope for more to follow.     

FIBA EUROBASKET 2017 DRAW

At the end of November 2016, the official FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Draw took place in Istanbul, Turkey. We prepared all the visual elements of the ceremony taking place in the beautiful setting of the Ciragan Palace Kempinski.  

Besides the hotel and stage branding, we also prepared the big screen graphics, media brochures, entertainers costume and gift packages.
